I started my social work career with The Salvation Army in 1993. I went through their program, became a substance abuse counselor and then became the program director of their men's rehabilitation center in downtown Detroit. I was sent to Los Angeles California in 1995 when they had the earthquake for two weeks to help with emergency shelters. I have done some social work through ministry and counseling through various churches. Since being in school I have interned at Woodward Counseling in Pontiac MI and I also interned and received a job through my internship at MCREST, Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter, for about three years. I now work with Community Housing Network, CHN, as a support specialist. CHN is a non-profit company that subsidizes four to six hundred participants rent for those who were recently disabled and homeless.
